On 15 March 2021, a new wage support scheme came into force. The scheme will apply until the end of June 2021 and is aimed at employers who take back their own employees from temporary layoff in the period 15 March to 30 June 2021.
Companies can receive up to NOK 25,000 per month in support per employee they take back from temporary layoff. The application portal will open on 3 May 2021.
Employers, who can document a drop in turnover of 70 per cent or more, receive up to NOK 25,000 a month per employee who is taken back from temporary layoff. In the event of a fall in turnover below 70 per cent, the amount of support gradually decreases to NOK 10,000 for a fall in turnover of 15 per cent. A fall in turnover below 15 per cent does not entitle to support.
The purpose of the scheme is to make it easier to bring back employees who can work on preparing the company for activity in the period until the activity picks up again. It can also be an opportunity to provide employees with replenishment of skills.
