Joakim Augeli Karlsen new partner in Littler Norway
Joakim Augeli Karlsen joined Littler Norway as a partner on 2 April 2024. He specialises in labour and employment law and litigation before the courts. Joakim will assist business clients with all types of labour and employment law cases, and is the "go to person" in cases and law that require that little extra.
Joakim comes from NHO, where he has worked as a lawyer for eleven years. He has previously worked for two years at the law firm Selmer, and one year at the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion as a senior consultant.
"I'm really excited to be part of Littler Norway. This is a great group of people I've had time to get to know quite well already, and I've enjoyed working with them from day one. I'm also looking forward to meeting a larger part of the international community in May, at the big event Littler Executive Employer Conference. This is going to be great!", says Joakim, Partner.
Joakim has worked extensively with restructuring and downsizing and individual cases with a collective approach, and is recognised and appreciated for his determination, efficiency, and good solutions in demanding cases - also in cases involving unions and employee representatives.
He has extensive experience of litigation in the district courts and courts of appeal, and has an approved test case before the Supreme Court. He has litigated cases for several large, listed organisations, including Equinor, Norwegian and SAS.
"We are very pleased to have Joakim join the team. He complements the partnership in Littler in a very good way, both professionally and personally. Joakim will contribute greatly to our ever-closer goal of being the first choice within employment law", says Tore, Chairperson of the Board.
Joakim has international experience as one of several spokespersons for the International Organisation of Employers at the ILO Labour Conference; Committee on the Application of Standards 2023. He has also been part of Business Europe's negotiating delegation for negotiations on the Teleworking and Right to Disconnect Directive. In addition, he has drafted several consultation responses for the implementation of EEA law in the Working Environment Act.
He has extensive lecture and course experience, and has been a speaker at the annual employment law course in 2020, 2023 and 2024. He has also had several introductory presentations in the Norwegian Employment Law Association's meeting series and at the Employment Law Group at UiO. Joakim also has experience as an examiner and supervisor in Master's theses in Employment Law, collectively and individually, at UiO.
"We are delighted that Joakim has joined Littler. He is a competent, skilled, and experienced lawyer who complements us and fits well with our strategic direction. Joakim is a nice and likeable person who we look forward to working with in the years to come", says Ole Kristian, Managing Partner.
