The outbreak of the coronavirus has recently led to serious consequences for the Norwegian economy and working life. We at Homble Olsby are constantly monitoring the authorities' measures aimed at businesses that are in crisis.

On Monday, March 16, 2020, a majority of Stortinget (Parliament) agreed on the first part of the economic package of measures related to the coronavirus outbreak. For employers, six measures are particularly relevant.

From 1 January 2020, several amendments concerning the whistle-blower provisions in the Working Environment Act entered into force. At the same time, the employer’s duty to act under the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act was strengthened.

On October 18th, 2019, the Ministry of Justice proposed a new act on the protection of trade secrets in Prop 5 LS (2019-2020). The proposal implements the EU directive 2016/943 and strengthens the protection of trade secrets.

On Wednesday 16 October 2019, Merete Furesund and Henrik Otterlei Rasmussen from Homble Olsby held a course organized by Advokatenes HR. The theme was international working conditions in the EU/EEA, including secondment, social security coordination, choice of law and legal venue.
